Industry background

For nearly 10 years, I have worked with people in various levels of music entertainment. I took an interest in audio engineering around 1998 as a hobby doing solo work, silly things for the most part. But it was all fun and games at first.

One of the first major opportunities I had was working with Sacramento Native, William Major in developing (916) Magazine "Sacramento's Only Hip Hop Magazine" between 2002 and 2004. I also contributed articles from interviews with hip hop artists such as Tech N9ne, Bizzy Bone (Bone Thugs N Harmony), Bushwick Bill (The Geto Boys) as well as development, distribution and sound reinforcement on shows performed at the Colonial Theatre.

While working with Major, in 2003 I was doing interviews with locals on an internet forum which led to conducting an interview with underground artist Double R (Rick Robinson) who at the time was releasing an independent record being presented by Bone Thugs N Harmony member, Bizzy Bone. At the time of release, Rick was managing Bizzy Bone which also led to doing an interview with Bizzy during the production of his 2004 release Alpha & Omega via Bungalo Records.

I was later brought board iMG Recordings to play small roles which include conducting more interviews with other well established hip-hop artists and introduced me on to one side on how the independent music business works first hand during the production and release of Alpha & Omega.

During this time in late 2004 I decided to return to school to study audio engineering and began perusing a degree under the Commercial Music Degree Program founded by Eric Chun at American River College. Under the teachings of Dr. Merlyn Van Regenmorter and Eric Chun, I have learned a lot in the business of music, able to improve on the craft of engineering and utilize the knowledge that led to Project Management and Artist Development work.

I am currently (2008-2009) serving as chair of the Audio Engineering Society Sacramento Student Regional Section and plan to graduation with my major in music by the end of 2009.
